Homeowner Jim Jones had a metal gate with horizontal wood sections that were in need of repair. They had an additional challenge with their gate. It would regularly blow open with a strong wind.
Jim's always liked the look of a louvered fence. He thought if he switched to louvered, the gate might withstand a stronger wind without blowing open. And he was right!
Retired from his professional career, Jim likes taking on occasional DIY projects. He used 16 EZ Louver brackets or eight pairs to upgrade his gate.
Here are the steps Jim took:
1- Attach the aluminum louvered brackets to the existing metal posts.
2- Give the metal structure and the brackets a fresh new coat of black paint.
3- Measure and cut the slats to the length of each panel.
4- Slide in each slat and attach to the bracket.
Jim is pleased with the new appearance of his gate and feels the satisfaction of completing the job himself. The louvered look improves the curb appeal of his home. It also solved the practical issue of wind resistance. The gate now stands firm against strong gusts.
He recommends EZ Louver brackets for the ease of installation and their versatility. Hats off to Jim for such a successful DIY project!
